GIFT OF SALVATION

Salvation is a gift. It is not something that you can earn or work for. It is a gift from God that each person either receives or refuses; which provides deliverance from the power and penalty of sin. Salvation comes in the life and death of one person and one person only: Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

The gift of salvation has many benefits. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you then gain access to the following benefits package. These biblical promises and many more are automatically accessible to all believers to help you in your daily life.

1. Access to God

1 John 1:3 We are telling you what we have seen and heard, so that you may share in this life with us. And we share in it with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

As a Christian you have access to God through Jesus Christ. This access is granted by prayer because Jesus intercedes for us. Jesus said "...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). Through Jesus you can have a personal and intimate relationship with God.

2. We are reconciled to God

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

This is one of the gifts of salvation that we often overlook. We were once enemies of God, but now we are His friends. We are reconciled and there is no longer any conflict between us and God. Christ has redeemed us of our sins and there is no longer any condemnation. When we come to God He no longer sees our sin debt, because Christ has paid that debt by dying on the cross for us. We are at peace with God.

3. Hope for the Future

Revelations 3:5 All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine. (New Living Translation)

Without the gift of salvation there would be no hope for the future. We would all be condemned to death and Hell. Through salvation we gain eternal life. As a follower of Christ we have hope for our future. We should be looking forward to the time when we will be with God in His glory. Also, we should be looking forward to Christ’s appearing when we will be taken up into the clouds with Him. When you accept Jesus in your life your name is written in the Book of Life and he has promised to never erase it.

4. Deliverance from wrath of God

1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

Before accepting Christ, you were under the wrath of God - condemned, doomed, facing judgement. All that has changed and now you will never be judged. God is not angry with you, but smiles on you with Fatherly love. As fierce as His wrath was against you then, so intense is His love for you now.

5. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.

As a believer God has deposited a part of His Spirit into you in the form of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the power of God actively living and working within you to help you overcome the temptations and trials of this world. God knew that daily you would experience things to test your faith and belief in Him, so He gave you His Spirit as a weapon. The Holy Spirit is your weapon against future sins you would otherwise be tempted by. God did not save you and leave you, but saved you to stand by your side and help you live this life.

6. Joy, Peace and Satisfaction in life

Galatians 5: 22But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard--things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments… (From the Message Bible)

You are not only an heir to eternal life, but also you are an heir to a wonderful life here and now! His plan is for you to live a life dominated by: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. God desires for you to enjoy each and everyday of your present life.

7. Adopted into God’s Family

Rom 8:16 -17The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

As a believer in Christ, God made you His own child. Now God is your Father, other believers are your brothers and sisters, and Christ is your elder brother. As a child of God you have rights to God’s inheritance. God has made everything He has (and He owns everything!) available to you. If you had a need in your life wouldn’t a loving earthly father try to supply that need? God is love and desires to meet your needs, as any good Father would. God sends angels to watch over you and protect you as you serve Him. He loves you and He wants only the best for you.
